  • I would recommend this business

I was recommended to Keys to freedom by friends of the family because of the success they had with passing their tests.

Mel was a great instructor who was always reliable and on time for lessons. He was clear at explaining what needed doing and the board diagrams were very helpful.
Mel was always very patient when I made mistakes and helped with my confidence on the road

I can definitely 100% recommend Mel I came to him from another driving instructor and basically I didn’t have much confidence in myself or my driving, Mel showed me easier methods of driving and he brought back all of my confidence he has had so much patience with me and I’m so happy to say I have passed my driving test with only three minors.

Customer Testimonials

I honestly can not thank Mel enough. He's such a patient, kind and genuine man, I don't know how he's put up with me! I use to hate my driving lessons I use to be so nervous but Mel helped me to enjoy them and has had me in stitches laughing on lessons. I passed my test today with only 2 minors something I never thought I would achieve. I think now I will actaully miss having my driving lesson and hearing Mels weekly bad jokes. Thank you so much Mel

Fantastic instructor. Mel is calm and patient and guides you through each lesson helping to build your confidence. Mel points out all big and small issues to help you improve your driving, he always has a little rhyme to help you remember what you need to do.

I 100% recommend Mel to be your driving instructor.
During my first lesson I was so so nervous and Mel instantly helped to settle my nerves and grow in confidence as the weeks went on. Anything I was unsure with he would always explain in great detail to ensure it was understood.
Whenever I was feeling stressed about certain manoeuvres he would calm me down by telling me a story or making up a (bad) joke, which seemed to help.
Mel was always punctual, helpful and friendly.

Thank you!

By far the most patient and best instructor ever. Goes the extra mile to make sure you have all the skills you need for not just the test day but there after. I've recommended him highly and my closest friend pass first time after having bad experiences elsewhere! I could not recommend Mel and keys to freedom any more I just wish he was in Buckinghamshire for my other friends to learn!

From Our Website

The vast majority of the UK's Approved Driving Instructors are self-employed and only earn a wage when a client pays them just like those awful zero hour contracts which were hitting the election headlines recently, these create a number of issues. Imagine getting ready for work in the morning, going out and paying your bus or train fare or fuel and parking fee, turning up at work on time only to be told by your employer they don't need you today. It has cost you time and money to be there and you might have even turned down other work and missed an opportunity to have been paid by someone else.

From 14 April 2020, the car theory test will include 3 multiple-choice questions based on a short video you'll watch. How the theory test is changing to use video clips instead of written case studies Currently, you have to read a case study and then answer 5 questions about it. This tests your knowledge and understanding of road rules. This will change if you take your test from 14 April 2020. You'll watch one video clip instead of reading a case study, and answer 3 questions about it. Before you can drive on a public road or take your theory test, you will need a valid Provisional Driving Licence.

At the start of your practical driving test, the examiner will ask you one "TELL ME" question. Although getting this question wrong will only result in one minor fault, the examiner will be happier if your answer is correct. Your answer does not have to be word perfect to the examples below. It is perfectly fine to use your own wording, as long as the examiner can understand what you are saying is akin to the correct answer. At some point during the drive the examiner will ask you to carry out one "SHOW ME" question.
