Drive to Arrive is a driver training business based in the South Lakes, established in 2004 by Peter Stas on his retirement from the police. His daughter Donna Watson has continued with the business incorporating police based methods in safe driving, defensive driving and advanced driving. Donna is a high grade instructor with advanced driver qualifications.

Tuition is tailored to the individual, which for learners can include theory test preparation. Other aspects of driving are catered for including driver improvement, motorway, confidence building and driving in the workplace. We offer a free, no obligation client meeting for people interested in their services. This gives you the opportunity to meet the instructor and ask any questions. You will receive relevant information for your needs in the form of a personalised information pack. Based in Grange-over-Sands, learner lessons cover the local area but other levels are available throughout a wider area by negotiation.

Donnas drive to arrive learning experience is nothing short of sublime. The confidence she grew in me as a new driver was something special that I don’t think I could find with anyone else. She kept me on top of everything and with my unorganised nature, it was incredibly useful. Her determination for you to become a confident, skilful driver was something that always kept me going and I could not recommend drive to arrive enough and overall you should defiantly grasp the opportunity to learn with drive to arrive.

From Our Website

Driving is a life skill, which can only be developed by investment in time and training. Drive to Arrive has a friendly female instructor with a manual training car, but can also deliver tuition in a client's own vehicle including automatic. Whatever your goal, answering the questions below, will help you to plan your way forward with 'Drive to Arrive'.

The business developed and in 2007 Peter was joined by his daughter Donna Watson as an additional driver trainer. The company delivers training to drivers of all levels, both individuals and company car/van drivers. Since Peter's retirement in 2016, Donna has continued to run and develop the business by building on it's excellent reputation. Based in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria, the company covers local areas around South Lakes and North Lancashire for learners and other individual customers, and further afield in the north west to meet client company requirements.

We work with Cumbria Road Safety Partnership delivering the "Drive Safely for Longer" scheme to drivers aged 70+. This is currently a free scheme. Please contact us for further details. Drive to Arrive can help - contact us to find out more!

On your first lesson, you will need to print and produce your licence information. Use this link to get the appropriate information required by your instructor for your first lesson. Road Respect is about making the roads safer in North East England. We're seeking to continue to change the culture on the roads and foster respect for the law, other road users, conditions and yourself as a road user. Take a look around. All areas of the Institute of Advanced Motorists have joined together under one trading name IAM RoadSmart.

As parents to a young driver, we are so grateful we found Drive to Arrive. Donna has been amazing from the start; she arranged to meet us all initially before any lessons started to explain her methods of tuition and provided lots of information. Donna from Drive to Arrive is an excellent teacher. Great communication throughout lessons and very friendly. She helps you grow confidence on the road quickly while keeping you safe, as well as making sure you are completely prepared for driving safely.

From 14 April 2020, the car theory test will include 3 multiple-choice questions based on a short video you'll watch. How the theory test is changing to use video clips instead of written case studies Currently, you have to read a case study and then answer 5 questions about it. This tests your knowledge and understanding of road rules. This will change if you take your test from 14 April 2020. You'll watch one video clip instead of reading a case study, and answer 3 questions about it. Before you can drive on a public road or take your theory test, you will need a valid Provisional Driving Licence.

The Advanced driver should always be in the correct position on the road, travelling at the appropriate speed for the conditions with the correct gear engaged. Advanced driving is based on the system of car control' which can be found in the police drivers handbook "Roadcraft". Eco-driving is now more relevant due to heightened awareness of climate change and the high cost of fuel. Techniques used in advanced driving reflect the same ethos as eco-driving. Drive to Arrive can help - contact us to find out more.

The scheme has been designed by the Driving and Vehicles Standards Agency (DVSA), with the help of motor insurance and driving instruction industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas where you may have limited experience. Pass Plus consists of a minimum of six hours' training and the emphasis is on developing your practical driving skills. There is no test at the end. Instead, you'll be assessed throughout and you must achieve the objectives within each module to complete the training.
