Have really enjoyed learning with Gill. She is patient, encouraging and supportive in her teaching. She understood where I needed to improve and gave me every opportunity to push myself out of my comfort zone, building the confidence to drive calmly in my test.

From Our Website

We are currently open, following the second national lockdown. Unfortunately there is a backlog of theory and practical driving tests throughout the country, which has also impacted on driving Instructors availability. All of our instructors use facemasks for your safety and we expect the same from our pupils, all of our vehicles are sanitised before each lesson. We ask that all pupils wash their hands thoroughly before coming out for their lesson. Accord Driving School is a family run business, it is a highly recommended local independent driving school offering professional driving lessons in Falmouth, Penryn, Helston, Truro, Camborne andRedruth.

I live in Falmouth with my husband James. Being a Driving Instructor is a second career for me, and I now have nearly 2 years of experience. I love my job and enjoy working with people to achieve their driving goals, whether it is to get their full licence, regain confidence behind the wheel or switch to a car with new controls. I also have experience of working with Motability customers and I am registered with them as a driving instructor for vehicles with hi-tech adaptations. I can teach both provisional and full licence holders in their own vehicles that are specifically adapted, which may include driving from wheelchairs and using joystick controls.

Thank you for looking at our Falmouth and Penryn Page. We currently have 5 professional instructors covering this area, (6 from February 18th, 2019) all of our instructors are fully qualified ADI's. At present we only offer manual tuition, there are no automatic instructors in the Falmouth area, though there are some that do cover the area.

Start by checking your mirrors. Be sure to know what is on your left side if turning left, and your right side if turning right. If turning left or right, let other road users know your intentions by giving a signal in plenty of time. Look out for side roads and avoid giving a misleading signal. When turning left, approach the corner on the left side, around a metre from the kerb. Look for the point at which the kerb bends away from you and start to steer left at that moment. Continue to follow the kerb, steering as much as is necessary to maintain a steady distance of around a metre.

We currently have 3 professional driving instructors covering this area, 2 are vastly experienced drivers. Steve Wills previously was a coach driver and has been a driving instructor for the past 14 years, Craig Pender was previously a lorry driver for 10 years, so there's not much about driving that they don't know. Will Jacka, one of our newer Instructors was previously with Red driving school, he wanted to change to a local school, Will brings with him youthfulness and modern teaching methods.

Prepare: With neutral selected and the handbrake engaged, start the engine. Select first gear and find the biting point by setting the gas and easing the clutch up to the point at which you feel a slight change in the tone/vibration of the engine. Observe: Take effective all-round observations. Ensure it is safe to move off, and make sure you are aware of anyone and anything that could be affected by your actions. Don't forget the blindspots. Look out for other road users who may benefit from you giving a signal.
